How I Increased My Blog Traffic Blogger Archives

This isn’t going to be some long tutorial but rather one method you can apply to your blogger blog. As many of you know blogger is not exactly search engine optimized out of the box.

This was the reason I made the Blogger meta tags changes.

Now I have made another change that seems to have made a significant increase in traffic referred from Google. The blogger archive option sucks and all it does is create duplicate content for you blog which will hurt you in the long run.

So what I did which took a while was create my own HTML archives page.

Look down the right column of the blog and you will see the “Archives”. I went through each blog post and added it to one of my HTML archives pages with some tasty keyword anchor text.

Now I have a list of all my past posts which are linked directly from my home page and they use keyword anchor text that I want. This means those “Archive” posts are getting crawled a lot more often than they would have been.

In turn my traffic from Google search has jumped up quite a bit. All I have to do now is update the archive page every 10 posts that I make. That’s the number of posts that stay active on the front page of this blog.

I also just started testing another method to gain higher search engine rankings for blog post without building any out side links to those posts. I will report back in a few weeks to see how that is working out.

Power Blogging

“Power Blogging” is a term I use when I am looking to create a bunch of unique hot topic blog posts really fast.

The reasoning behind “Power Blogging” is so I can establish my blog as an authority in it’s niche quickly and have it making money online fast.

- How I “Power Blog”

1. First thing I do is head over to iGoogle and create a fresh account.

2. Now I visit all my favorite blogs or authority blogs in the niche that I am targeting. The purpose of this is grab their RSS feed.

3. Take the RSS and punch it into the iGoogle reader so it displays on your iGoogle page.

a. Click on the “Add Stuff” link in the almost upper right hand corner of the page.

b. Middle left hand side of the page you will see “Add feed or gadget” URL. Click on it and add the RSS feed you just found.

By this point you should have about 15 RSS feeds displayed on your iGoogle page that about the niche of the blog you have created. Now it’s time to get some quick ideas for content to Power Blog about.

4. Visit one of the blog posts by clicking on an RSS feed. Read the post and take note of the key points of the post. Repeat this process again for a second RSS feed you have found.

5. Now you should have a few really good ideas for creating a blog post of your own. So head over to your blog create a 100% unique post based of some of the ideas you came up with.

6. Wash rinse and repeat 10 – 15 times per day.

This may seem like a lot but once you get 500 – 600 fresh blog posts that are about topics people want to read watch your traffic shoot up. This is the whole point of power blogging.

Establish yourself as an authority in a niche, increase your traffic and monetize the crap out of your blog. You should be making money online with your blog relatively fast by Power Blogging.

*Make sure you are not copying the content from the blogs you visit. The content is ONLY to be used to give you ideas to write about. Copying a websites content is illegal and will only hurt you in the long run.

Blogger Meta Tags

If you are using Blogger.com as your content management system you know that it doesn’t create unique Meta tags for each page, which sucks!

I made a post on another blog about a year ago with code that will create unique meta tags for each page of your blog. I got bored a couple weeks ago and tweak the code a little bit.

I have since noticed a significant increase in traffic and all my post are usually indexed with in minutes. Getting indexed fast isn’t a big deal but the increase in traffic is.

The only thing I can attribute this traffic increase to is using this code to create unique Blogger Meta tags. I have only tested this on self-hosted Blogger blogs. So if you are using Blogger to host your blog you can try it but I don’t know if it will work.

One thing I didn’t mention in the video is that you must be using classic Blogger mode. This is the mode where you can edit and or create your own Blogger template such as I have done on this blog.

Just grab the code from below and replace the old Blogger Meta tag code between the head tags of your blog template.

More traffic equals making more money online baby!
